After a tiring day at the pool, we headed out for a walk in the evening. This part of Thailand is much calmer, and the highlight of this place is the famous Donki Mall.
This six-story mall at Thonglor is home to a range of Japanese restaurants and cafes. Don Don Donki outlet here offers the same merchandise as the original Don Quijote stores in Japan. You can get everything from facial masks and skincare products, to toys and cosplay kits, to fruits and food at very affordable prices. Don Don Donki also has a food zone where you can have delicious Japanese food and drinks any time of the day.
There are many other Japanese restaurants in the mall premise and one of my favorite is Katsushin. This place is very special to me because it is here that I lost my sushi virginity !
Sushi is a traditional Japanese dish made from vinegared rice, usually with some sugar and salt, accompanying a variety of ingredients such as raw seafood and vegetable. Styles of sushi and its presentation vary widely, but the one key ingredient is “sushi rice”, also referred to as shari or sumeshi. One of the characteristic ingredients in sushi is the Wasabi Sause, which is made from Wasabi or Japanese horseradish. It often used as a condiment for sushi and other foods and has a very pungent smell that hits your nose !
For the uninitiated, it can seem quite intimidating at first. But trust me, the moment your taste buds have their first encounter with the ingredients of sushi platter, a firework of flavor unfolds. If you haven’t had it before, I definitely recommend that you try it out.
